A Study on the Personification by Ideologization: Focusing on the Transition of Understanding on China after Jeungmyo Byungja War

문학은 스토리의 전개와 인물의 형상화에 작가를 둘러싼 시대 상황이 나타나는 것이 일반적이다. 그렇기 때문에 정치적 목적이나 실리를 위해 특정 이념에 의해 인물이 형상화된 경우, 그 의도와 배경을 분석할 필요가 있다. 이는 당시 상황을 정치 사회적으로 정밀하게 살펴보아야 설명이 가능해진다. 정묘 병자호란을 겪던 시기는 국제정세도 매우 복잡했으며 조선의 입장도 매우 난처했다. 결과적으로 조선은 반청으로 기울었다. 이에 따라 전쟁 패배의 책임을 전가할 대상이 필요했으며, 청에 대한 적개심을 높여야 했다. <강로전>에서 강홍립은 부정적으로 형상화되었으며, <임경업전>의 임경업은 영웅으로 형상화되었다. 이들 작품 속 인물의 행위는 역사적 사실과는 거리가 있음에도 불구하고, 특정 세력에 의해 이념화되어 오랫동안 독자들에게 읽혔다. 강홍립은 비열한 배신자로 극히 부정적으로 묘사되었으며, 임경업은 전지를 이탈했음에도 불구하고 대의를 실천한 인물로 형상화되었다. 이는작가의 생각이나 시대의 의식을 반영한 일반적인 수준을 넘어, 매우 노골적으로 이념화한 흔적이다. 이 흔적에는당시 복잡한 중국의 정세와 그 속에서 방향을 모색했던 조선의 대응방식이 담겨있다. 현실적으로 청에 대해 복수설치를 할 수 없기에 <강로전>의 인물을 부정적으로 묘사하며 울분을 달랬고, <임경업전>의 인물을 영웅화하여존주대의라는 정치적 명분을 유지했던 것이다.

The state of the times surrounding the writer is reflected in literature about story development and personification. So, in case of personification by specific ideology for political purpose and benefit, it is necessary to analyze that intention and background. For this, it should be checked about political society of those days accurately. In time which Jeungmyo Byungja War broke out, the international situation was very complicated and the position of Joseon was very embarrassing. Finally Joseon selected route of anti-Qing Dynasty. Accordingly, Joseon needed something and somebody that shift responsibility on and had to raise hostility. Kang Honglib was negatively shaped in <Gangro-jeon>, Im Gyeong-eop was heroically shaped in <Im Gyeongeop Jeon>. In these literary works, even though acts of character are far from the truth, were read to the reader with ideologization by specific forces longtime. Kang Honglib was very negatively shaped with a slimy traitor, Im Gyeong-eop was shaped with a man of great cause though he leaved the battlefield. These case exceed the general standard which reflect the writer’s idea or sense of the times. It is a trace of obvious ideologicalization. The complicated situation in China at that time and Joseon’s response method were leaved in that traces. In reality, having no force for revenge, they soothed their anger by negating character in <Gangro-jeon> and maintained a political cause, Jonjudaeui, by heroizing character in <Im Gyeongeop Jeon>.
