초등학생의 영어 게임 흥미도 향상 연구

The purpose of this research is to investigate the 6th graders’ perception of game activities and to suggest some instructional directions for improving interest in games among elementary school students. Recently, teachers who have teach games in English classes reported that the 6th graders would show their lower interest in the game activity. This research set up two types of categories of questionnaires of why they have such attitudes in their game activities. As pointed by W.-K. Lee (1994),S.-Y. Im 와 J.-K. Park (2008), games are fundamentally a very effective teaching and learning way for improving students communicative skills in English and very useful and effective activities in elementary English education. For this research, 10 questionnaire items were administered to two hundred forty six 6th graders in K. elementary school in Choongbuk. As a result, there were several research issues about the 6th graders low degree of interest in game activity. The results of the research were as follows: the necessity of new games, the appropriate use of four language skills, compensation or compliment, more appropriate physical activity for their level, comprehensible explanation of the game rules, their preference of game types and more chances of participation.
