스크립트 텍스트 유형에 따른 쉐도잉 기법 활용이 영어듣기 능력 향상에 미치는 효과 연구

The Effects of Shadowing Based on the Text Types of Listening Script on High school Students’ English Listening Ability

The purpose of the current study aimed to examine the effects of shadowing on the learner s listening proficiency when exposed to three different text types of the listening scripts. A total of 90 high school students participated and they were divided into three groups: sentence group, explanatory text group, and narrative text group. Three groups were given pre- and post-listening tests. The results of this study were as follows: Firstly, the three groups had a significant difference between pre- and post listening scores, showing the biggest gap by the narrative text showing group, followed by the sentence showing group and explanatory text shadowing group. Secondly, there was no significant mean difference among the three groups, but the average scores of the post-test was higher in order of sentence group, narrative text group, and explanatory text group, and the difference in average scores improvement between pre-test and post-test was larger in order of narrative text group, sentence group, and explanatory text group. Based on the findings, several pedagogical implications were presented.
