Furniture ststistics in Korean households and consumer preference to furniture styles were surveyed by a direct visit method. Four major cities in this country were selected From each city two hundred housewives living in apartments were sampled. They were generally considered to represent the middle class of this country. Most furnitures in households had been purchased later than 1990. Only half of the respondents were satisfied with their furnitures. It was found that consumers primarily emphasized on furniture design when purchasing it. Aout half of the respondents were possessing solid-wood furniture and 15% wanted to buy it. Most respondents well recognized the use of built-in furniture and DIY furniture.
