This study was conducted to understand consumers’ purchasing trend and to point up the significance of the new product development in the furniture manufacturing industries. We first analyzed the present industrial conditions and surveyed the consumer s behavior on new product ideas and its application and help the domestic furniture industries promote their new product development successfully. Furthermore, the results are expected to help them improve competitiveness. It is desirable that new product development should emphasize the quality of product in the domestic markets and the new technology and design in the overseas markets. Consumers want to buy furniture products with good functions at low prices. So the furniture manufacturers must develop new technology and d ε sign to reduce the cost and to offer various functions of the furniture. Considering the present managerial conditions of furniture industries, it would be practical to utilize the weighted evaluation model of the new product development ideas. The weighted evaluation model ranks payability, productivity and policy of th ε industry in the order of their significance (internal factors), and competitive power, sales ability, and marketability (external factors) of the furniture manufacturing industries.
