Densities and dynamic MOE s of German spruce, Engelmann spruce, Indian rosewood and mahogany, which are major species of a classic guitar, were measured. The dynamic MOE s were calculated from the sound velocities measured by a ultrasonic timer. Effect of cyclic drying on density and MOE was examined by drying low quality spruce boards in a kiln. The cause of crook of guitar necks was investigated by conditioning them at various humidities. Dimensional stability tests were conducted with some acetylated guitar necks.
