In this paper, the research in Jwatop (bench), which is one of wooden furnitures of the Three Kingdom period (the beginning times of Korean wooden furnitures), is done. Jwatop is furniture used for people to sit, having its origins in a couch of ancient times, and was used by the nobility. Basically, the top board is square and there is no brims at the four corners. The cross section of legs are rectangular. In general, the wave pattern Woongak is put around the top board, and the legs are decorated with fret. Jwatop of Koguryo times can be observed in the ancient tomb murals. The Tokjwa form (for one person), Hoptop form (for two persons), and Yeontop form (for three persons) of Jwatop are seen in the Anak 3rd tomb, Yaksuri ancient tomb, Dukheungri ancient tomb, Gamshinchong, Ssangyongchong, Muyongchong, Maesanri Sashinchong, and Anak 2nd tomb, etc. The usage of Jwatop of Shilla times can be presumed from the bier of ancient tomb, and the record of the United Shilla times. It seems that the Jwatop was made of internal or imported wood, andlacquer was used as coating materials. It is assumed that the production method used is Jjaim and Yiuhm. The further research of the relation between Korean and Japanese Jwatop, and the development process of Jwatop of Three Kingdom times into Jwatop of Chosun times should be done in the future.
