This study was conducted to decrease the combustibility of wood for the promotion of wood use, which is emerging as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. As materials, red pine, Japanese larch, and Korean pine, which are major conifers used in Korea, were selected. And, the phosphorus-based flame retardant was injected into the test specimens. Then, the peak heat release rate (PHRR) and total heat release (THR) were measured through the cone calorimeter test. As a result, it was concluded that the minimum amount of flame retardant absorption was 139 kg/m³ for incombustible material and 178 kg/m³ for semi-noncombustible material based on the regression curve between total heat release and the amount of flame retardant absorption.
