박경리 소설에 나타난 주권국가의 폭력과 감응의 정치학

Violence of the Sovereign State and Politics of Affect in Park Kyungni’s Novels

박경리를 작가의 세계로 인도하고, 진리를 찾게끔 강요한 기호는 주권국가의 폭력이다. 주권국가는 안과 밖의 경계를 나누고 내부의 적을 구별할 권리를 위임받은 절대성을 갖는다. 여기에서 주권적 폭력이 발생한다. 박경리의 『시장과 전장』은 한국 전쟁을 통해 주권국가의 배제의 원리가 어떻게 삶과 생명을 파괴하는지를 잘 보여준다. 또한 『토지』 4, 5부에서도 일본 국가의 확장을위해 전쟁에 자발적으로 동원되어 다른 민족을 학살하는 일본 국민을 공범자로 명시한다. 그러므로 주권국가의 폭력에 저항하는 것은 개인의 차원이든 민족의 차원이든자연스러운 권리인 것이다. 박경리는 주권권력의 폭력과 피의 살육을 부끄러워해야 한다고 요청한다. 부끄러움의 감응을 통해 보편성과 환대를 회복해야 한다는 것이다. 세계 시민의 보편적 환대로의 감응을 통해 주권국가의 폐쇄성은 극복될 수 있다. 이때 유기적 정체성, 어떤원리나 지도적 이념으로 하나의 전체로 통합하는 이성 중심주의, 인간 중심주의에 거리를 두는 감정의 변이 현상, 즉 감응의 정치학이 작동된다. 그 결과 박경리의 소설은폭력으로 야기된 부끄러움과 공포의 감정을 응시함으로써, 모든 생명 앞에서의 평등을 실현해 가는 국경, 문화, 종교를 횡단하는 감응의 정치를 추구한다.

The incident that prompted Park Kyeongni to enter the world of arts and forced her to seek the truth is the violence of the Sovereign state. A sovereign state has an absolute right to divide the boundaries between the inside and the outside, and to distinguish the enemies within. This could lead to sovereign violence. The Market and Warfield (『시장과전장』) demonstrates how the principle of exclusion of the sovereign state destroys the lives of individuals through the Korean War. Furthermore, in Parts IV and V of Toji (『土地』), Japanese citizens who are voluntarily mobilized in war to slaughter other people are specified as accomplices for the expansion of the Japanese nation (國家). It is a natural right to resist the violence of a sovereign state, whether at the individual or national (民族的) level. Park Kyeongni calls for shame on the violence and slaughter of sovereign power. She believes that universality and hospitality must be restored through the Affect of shame. The closedness of a sovereign state can be overcome through hospitality and global citizenship. At this point, organic identity, rationalism that integrates into a whole with a certain principle or guiding ideology, and emotional transformation that distances itself from anthropocentrism, that is, the politics of Affect, is in operation. Consequently, Park Kyeongni’s novels pursue the politics of Affect that transcends borders, cultures, and religions that realize equality of all lives by staring at the feelings of shame and fear triggered by the violence.
