유아와 어머니의 그림책 함께 읽기 발화 양상 연구

Pattern of reading utterances of children and mothers: A focus on story and information picture books

본 연구는 유아와 어머니의 그림책 함께 읽기 상황에서 그림책의 장르에 따라 발화의 추상성 양상이 어떠한지를 알아보았다. 이를 위해 만 6세 유아와 어머니 3쌍을 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 어머니들에게 자신의 자녀와 이야기 그림책 한 권과 정보그림책 한 권을 읽는 과정을 녹음하여 연구자에게 전달해 달라고 요청하였다. 연구자는 녹음 파일을 전사한 후 분석 틀을 기준으로 2인의 검토자와 함께 발화의 추상성 양상을 분석하였다. 연구 결과 그림책 장르에 따라 유아와 어머니 발화의 추상성 양상이 다르게 나타남을 확인할 수 있었다. 이야기 그림책은 3수준, 4수준, 2수준, 1수준 순으로 발화 횟수가 많이 나타났다. 특히 3수준과 4수준의 삶과 관련된 발화, 추론 발화가 많이 나타났는데 수준에 따라 발화 내용의 질적인 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 정보 그림책은 3수준, 1수준, 2수준, 4수준 순으로 발화 횟수가 많이 나타났다. 정보 그림책은 이야기 그림책과는 다르게 3수준과 4수준에서 다양한 발화의 양상이 나타났으며 특히4수준의 발화를 통해서는 탐구를 촉진하는 발화가 나타났다. 연구 결과를 바탕으로유아와 어머니의 그림책 함께 읽기 상황에서 유의미한 대화가 이루어지기 위한 제언을 하였다.

This study examines the abstract aspects of utterances, of mothers and children reading picture books together, based on the genre of the picture book. For this purpose, three pairs of 6-year-old children and their mothers were selected as study participants. We asked mothers to record the process of reading story and an information picture books with their children. The researcher transcribed the recording file and analyzed the abstract aspects of utterances with two reviewers based on the analysis frame. The study confirmed that the abstract aspects of the utterances of children and mothers differed according to the picture book genre. In story picture book, the number of utterances was high in the order of level 3, level 4, level 2, and level 1. Particularly, there were many utterances and reasoning utterances related to life at the level 3 and level 4, and it was confirmed that there was a qualitative difference in the contents of the utterances depending on the level. However, in the information picture book, the number of utterances was high in the order of level 3, level 1, level 2, and level 4. In the information picture book, various aspects of utterance appeared at the level 3 and level 4. Especially the utterance that promotes exploration was shown through the level 4. Suggestions were made based on our findings, for meaningful, high-quality conversations for children and mothers who read picture books together.
