해석학적 관점의 건축문화유산 리터러시 연구

A study of architectural heritage literacy from a hermeneutical perspective: focusing on the value assessments of the architectural heritage since the mid-20th century

본 연구는 건축문화유산의 가치평가가 어떻게 변해왔는지 그 전개과정을 고찰하고, 현재 시점에서 가장 효용성 있는 가치평가 방법이 무엇인지 분석하여 그 방향성을 제안하는 것에 주목적을 두고 있다. 연구 방법에 있어서는 객관성 확보를 위해 국내 건축문화유산에 한정하지 않고 세계유산에 초점을 맞추었으며 국제적 담론자료들을 다각적인 방면으로 고찰하였다. 그 결과 20세기 중반 이후부터는 기존과 다른 관점으로 가치평가가 이루어지고 있는 것을 파악하였다. 이때 적용되고 있는 관점은 사고의 틀이 아닌 사고의 도구로써 작용하고 있는데, 가치평가의 대상에 대해서 본질을 왜곡 없이 있는 그대로의 상태에서 다양하게 이해하고 있는 이러한 관점을 본 연구에서는 ‘해석학적 관점’이라고 지칭하였다. 이러한해석학적 관점은 건축문화유산에 대한 전문적 리터러시 영역인 가치평가에 있어 최근 들어 지대한 영향을 주고 있다. 세계유산으로 등재된 건축문화유산 중 이러한 해석학적 관점으로 가치평가가 이루어진 사례들이 20세기 후반부터 두드러지고 있다. 그 중 대표적인 사례들에 대해서그 등재 과정을 자세히 분석함으로써 해석학적 리터러시의 실질적인 적용 방법을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구는 건축문화유산에 대한 리터러시의 요구가 전문가 집단 뿐만 아니라 일반대중에게도 확산되어 가고 있는 시점에서, 최근의 경향성에 부합하는 해석학적 리터러시를 고찰하는 것에 의의를 두었다.

This study aims to investigate the development process of the value assessment of architectural heritage and to identify the most effective current method. It then proposes a direction for such methodology. In order to secure objectivity in the study, it was not limited to the domestic architectural heritage, but focused on the world heritage. It also considered international discourse data in various ways. As a result, it found that value assessment began to be conducted from a different perspective from the mid-20th century. The perspective applied at that time can be said to be literacy, which acts as a tool and not a framework for thinking. This perspective which variously understands the essence without distortion, is referred to as an “hermeneutical perspective” in this study. This study is meaningful in considering hermeneutical literacy that is consistent with the recent trend where the demand for architectural heritage literacy is spreading not only among experts but also the general public.
