The purpose of this study is to investigate the early passive construction and A-movement acquisition of English native speakers from the perspective of Minimalist Program. The methods of this study are based on Agreement feature in Minimalist Program, Relativised Minimality(Rizzi 2004), and Smuggling(Collins 2005). Guasti(2004) proposes that children do not have access to the structural mechanism involved in the formation of verbal passives at least until age 5-6, a limitation that was imputed to immaturity of brain circuitry underlying passive computation. The Universal Phase Requirement Hypothesis(Wexler 2004) can account for children s difficulties with passives. Under the UPRH, the vP in passives is a phase in child, but not in adult grammar. Collins(2005) argues the passive involves movement of the logical object across the logical subject, and normally this requires smuggling. Snyder & Hyams(2015) propose smuggling is maturationally unavailable until age four. In some studies of the English passive, three-year-old children succeed only if [+WH][+TOPIC] on the logical object can prevent a Relativised Minimality violation.
