명암(明庵) 이태일(李泰一)의 역학관

명암 이태일은 조선 말기와 일제 강점기에 활동했던 유학자로 주요 활동 무대는 경상북도 영천을 중심으로 한 영남지역이다. 그는 유학 전반에 거쳐 조예가 깊었으며, 특히 주역 해석에서 매우 독창적인 관점을 제시하고 있다. 명암의 주역에 대한 독창적인 해석은 특히 수(數)의 관점을 통하여 주역의 형성과 철학적 특징인 변화를 분석하고 있다는 점에 있다. 이런 명암의 해석은 이전의 역학자들의 관점에서는 발견하기 어려운 독창적인 것이라고 할 수 있다. 명암은 주자학적 전통에 입각하여 태극을 최고이자 최초의 본체로 가정하고 음양이기(陰陽理氣), 만물의 상, 수, 괘획(卦劃) 등의 역학 개념들은 모두 태극에서 나온다고 주장한다. 또 수 1과 2에 철학적 의미를 부여하여 우주의 변화 및 주역의 건괘와 곤괘의 발생은 모두 수 1, 2에서 나오는 것임을 강조한다. 또 초연･중연･대연의 삼연(三衍)에 대한 주장은 명암 역학 가운데 가장 독창적인 부분이라고 할 수 있다. 명암은 수 1에서부터 10을 사용하여 초연･중 연･대연을 나누고 이를 통해 우주의 변화를 설명한다. 나아가 명암은 36궁(宮) 의 숫자 36이 주역을 관통하는 가장 중요한 수라고 말한다. 이런 관점은 소강절의 관점을 빌려와 그것을 더 심층적인 각도에서 해석하고 있는 것으로 보인다. 그는 36을 반괘(反卦)･8괘･64괘의 괘서(卦序)･｢잡괘전｣의 관점을 통하 여 분석하고 있다.

In terms of Image number Yi Xue, he gave the numbers 1 and 2 a deep meaning, and explain that changes in the universe and the occurrence of Qian Gua and Kun Gua in the Book of Changes come from numbers 1 and 2. Chow Yeon, Zhong Yeon, Dae Yeon are the most original parts of Myuong-am s studies of the Book of Changes, He called this Sam Yeon. Myuong-am uses the numbers 1 to 10 to explain Chow Yeon, Zhong Yeon, Dae Yeon, and through this, he explain about the changes in the universe. Furthermore, Myuong-am thought that the number 36 penetrated the Book of Changes, He found that the number 36 was closely related to 8 Gua, 64 Gua s order of arrangement, and Zha Gua Zhuan.
