이 연구는 민간조사제도가 합법화됨에 따라 민간조사제도의 발전을 위하여 지금까지 진행되었던 민간조사 관련연구의 실태를 살펴보고 민간조사 연구의 발전방향을 제시하기 위한 목적을 가진 연구이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 민간조사 관련 선행연구들을 이용하여 분석하였다. 민간조사란 민간차원에서 치안서비스를 제공하는 활동으로서 양질의 치안서비스를 제공할 수 있어 많은 사람들이 합법적으로 운용될 수 있기를 원했다. 이러한 기대에 부응하기 위하여 2000년대 중반부터 민간조사제도 도입의필요성을 주장하는 연구, 민간조사제도 도입 입법안에 관한 연구, 해외사례 소개 등과 같은 연구들이 지속적으로발표되었다. 그러나, 지금까지 수행되었던 민간조사 연구들은 경찰(행정)학과 법학에 집중되었으며, 양적연구의 부족, 업무와관련된 법안에 대한 연구의 부족 등의 문제점을 지적받고 있어 이를 개선할 필요가 있다. 이 연구에서는 이러한문제점을 파악하고 개선하기 위한 방안을 제안하였다.
The purpose of this study is to examine the current state of the researches on the private investigation and to suggest the developments of related researches in response to legalization of the private investigation system. For such purposes, this study analyzed the preceding researches on the private investigation. The private investigation means to provide the security service in the private level and large numbers of people hoped for the legalization of the private investigation system because it would allow more high-quality security service. To meet such expectations, there have been numerous researches on claiming for introducing the private investigation system, examining the legislation for introducing the private investigation system, and introducing the overseas cases starting from the mid-2000s. However, the previous researches on the private investigation focused on the police studies, public administration studies, and legal studies. The previous researches also lack quantitative researches and bill-related researches. Therefore, this study identified such issues and proposed the improvement strategies.
