부모 동료 상담에 참여한 발달장애인 부모의 인식 및 경험

Perception and Experience of Parents with Developmental Disabilities who Participated in Parent-to-Parent Program

목적 본 연구는 자녀의 장애 유형과 장애 특성을 고려한 부모 간 일대일 지원활동인 ‘부모동료상담’에 참여한 부모들을 대상으로 이들의 경험이 갖는 의미와 구조를 이해하고자 하였다. 방법 이를 위해 충남지역 지적장애 및 자폐성장애 특수학교 재학생의 부모 10명에 대해 심층면담을 통해 자료를 수집하여 질적연구를 실시하였다. 연구 참여자들 중 5명은 발달장애인 자녀를 양육하는데 어려움을 겪는 부모들이었으며, 연구 참여자들 중 5명은 장애 자녀 양육에 어려움을 경험하는 후배 부모를 정서적으로 지원하기로 한 부모들로서 이들 연구 참여자들 모두는 부모 동료상담에 참여한 사람들로 구성되었다. 결과 심층면담을 통한 자료 수집 결과, 선배부모의 경험으로 ‘감사와 행복’, ‘힘들지만 후배 사랑’, ‘보람과 연대’의 주제가 도출되었으며, 후배부모의 경험으로 ‘지금껏 경험 못한 위로와 기쁨’, ‘맞춤형 도움’, ‘감사와 부모연대’의 주제가 도출되었다. 결론 연구의 결과를 통해 발달장애인 부모동료상담을 통해 지원을 받은 부모와 제공한 부모 모두 다양한 형태의 도움을 받았음을 알 수 있었고, 부모동료상담이 다양한 연령의 자녀를 지닌 부모들에게 모두 효과가 있으며, 아버지들 간의 지원도 효과가 있음을 알 수 있었다. 이후의 연구에서는 지원 인력풀이 조성되어 다양한 연령과 다양한 장애특성에 따라 맞춤형으로 지원을 하는 것에 대한 많은 연구가 이루어질 것을 제안한다.

Objectives This study attempted to understand the meaning and structure of their experiences for parents who participated in ‘parent peer counseling’, a one-on-one support activity between parents, considering their children s disability types and disability characteristics. Methods To this end, data were collected through in-depth interviews and conducted a qualitative study on 10 parents of special schools with intellectual disabilities and autism in Chungnam. Five of the study participants were parents who had difficulty raising children with developmental disabilities, and five of the study participants were parents who decided to emotionally support junior parents who experienced difficulties raising children with disabilities, all of whom participated in parent-to-parent ptogram. Results As a result of collecting data through in-depth interviews, topics of “audit and happiness,” “hard but junior love,” and “reward and solidarity” were derived from the experiences of junior parents, and topics of “comfort and joy,” “customized help,” and “parent solidarity.” Conclusions From the results of the study, it was found that both parents and parents who received support through peer counseling for parents with developmental disabilities received various forms of help, and that parental counseling was effective for parents of various ages. Subsequent studies suggest that a pool of support personnel will be created to conduct many studies on customized support according to various ages and various disability characteristics.
