The emergence of the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in which things change and grow at a rapid pace has brought social changes which accelerate national income and economic growth. At the same time, living standards and quality of life have continuously improved. Such contemporary changes have had a considerable influence on cosmetology industry and its workforce development & training. Recently, K-beauty has drawn a great attention from the world thanks to the popularity of K-drama and K-pop, which has in turn made a big contribution to economic development. Under the New Normal Era, there is a necessity to build proper training environments and develop decent curriculums. For this, study collected and comparatively analyzed data on the educational courses of cosmetology departments in 2-year and 4-year colleges across the country and attempted to examine similar curriculums and courses. The results found that all junior (2- and 3-year colleges) and 4-year colleges in the Republic of Korea currently have similar curriculums and courses. However, 4-year colleges have shown some changes in their curriculums by adding new courses such as AI beauty and beauty creator courses to be well prepared against the Era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is anticipated that the study results would be available as basic data needed to suggest a direction for curriculum improvements. It is also hoped that this study would be the basis to find a way to increase the enrollment rate of cosmetology departments in domestic colleges but Korea National Open University and improve students’ satisfaction.
