본고는 인지의미론적 관점에서 한·중 ‘길다/長’의 존재론적 은유의 개념화 양상을 대조 분석하였다. ‘길다/長’은 [시간을 개체]로 보는 은유를 사용하여 공간 의미가 시간 영역으로 확장된다는 면에서 대응 양상을 이루었다. 또한, ‘길다/長’은 [분량을 개체], [안목을 개체]로 보는 은유의 개념화 양상에서는 공통점이 나타나는 동시에 세밀한 차이점이 나타나기도 하였다. 그리고 감정 영역에서 ‘길다/長’은 [고통을 개체], [슬픔을 개체]로 보는 은유를 사용해서 의미가 확장된다는 면에서 대응 양상을 보이지만 ‘長’은 [그리움을 개체], [기쁨을 개체]로 보는 은유를 사용해서 다른 감정 영역에까지 투사할 수 있는 면에서 ‘길다’와 비대응 양상을 이루었다. 마지막으로 ‘길다’는 [생각을 개체]로 보는 은유를 사용해서 은유 의미가 확장되는 반면에 ‘長’에서는 이에 대응되는 은유를 보이지 않았고 ‘長’은 [입을 그릇]으로 보는 영상 도식 은유를 사용해서 개념화하지만 ‘길다’에서는 이에 대응되는 은유 양상을 보이지 않았다.
This paper contrasts and analyzes the conceptualization of the ontological metaphors of Korean ‘길다’ and Chinese ‘長‘ from a cognitive semantic perspective. The ’길다/長‘ use the metaphor of [time as an entity] to achieve a corresponding aspect in that the spatial meaning is extended to the temporal domain. In addition, Korean spatial scale adjective ‘길다’ and Chinese spatial scale adjective ’長‘ have several kinds of metaphors, such as [quantity as an entity], [insights as an entity] etc. The metaphors of ‘길다/長’ form corresponding similarities and show subtle differences. Among the conceptualization in the emotional domain, Korean ‘길다’ and Chinese ‘長’ show a corresponding aspect in that the meaning is expanded by using the metaphor of [pain as an entity] and [sadness as an entity]. However, the Chinese spatial scale adjective ‘長’, using the metaphors of [miss as an entity], [joy as an entity] can be projected into other emotional domains and has achieved a non-corresponding aspect to Korean spatial scale adjective ‘길다 . Lastly, the meanings ‘길다’ is expanded by using the metaphors of [thinking as an entity], whereas the Chinese ‘長’ does not show a corresponding metaphor. Furthermore, the Chinese ‘長’ is conceptualized using the metaphor of [mouth as a container], but the Korean ‘길다’ does not show a corresponding metaphor.
