보육시설 평가인증제도의 성과 및 향후과제 분석

Analysis of Effects and Suggestions of the Child Care Accreditation System

The purpose of this study was to analyse the effects and difficulties of the child care accreditation system and to provide some suggestions to improve the child care accreditation system. The directors and teachers who participated in the accreditation process identified the improvement of educational environment, their teaching styles and quality of care, systematic planning and evaluation, peer-mentoring, and reflective teaching as benefits. The directors’ and teachers’ difficulties to participate in the child care accreditation process were identified as follows: 1) There were difficulties in finance, space disposition, manufacturing of teaching materials and misunderstandings about evaluation indicators. 2) There were difficulties of the overwhelming amount of work, lack of time, lack of assistance, and distributing work responsibility. 3) There were difficulties of tensions of task and progress. As the results of the study, some suggestions were provided as follows: First, to improve the quality of child care center, the continuous management and support of the government should be provided. Second, the financial support and incentive system for the accredited child care centers and teachers should be supported. This study suggests these findings to be reflected on implementing the child care accreditation system.
