Comparative Study of Gwansun Yu and Qiu Gen

The time of Yu Gwansun and Qiu Gen was when they should live an extraordinary life, with their countries threatened by the advent of Western culture. Yu Gwansun and Qiu Gen fought for human rights, freedom, equality, and philanthropy, which based on the western Christian idea. Qiu Gen not only developed women s enlightenment movement by addresses in front of the public and publishment, but organized an army to get into the armed struggles. On the other hand, all the members of Yu Gwansun s family were engaged in the construction of night schools to eradicate illiteracy, and carried out a movement of nonviolent resistance against colonization of their country. In the 21th century, the time of war, we are required to have the virtues of the freedom and equality of human being, and the peace of the world based on the principle of national self-determination. In order to promote these virtues, we should inherit and develot the self-giving spirit of Yu Gwansun.
