백제부흥운동 전개 과정을 통해 본 주류성 위치 비정

The Location of Juryu-seong assumed through the Process of the Baekje Revival Movement

본고에서는 부흥운동의 전체적인 전개 양상의 이해 속에서 주류성 위치 비정을 시도해보고자 하였다. 부흥운동 세력은 부흥운동 발발 이후 임존성을 중심으로 사비 탈환을 위한 노력에 나선다. 그리고 효율적인 사비・웅진지역 압박 및 세력 확장을 위해 주류성으로 거점을 옮긴다. 부흥운동 세력의 활동으로 당군이 고립되자 당군과 신라군은 이를 구원하기 위해 웅진강구와 두량윤성에서 부흥운동군과 전투를 하였다. 이후 신라군이 고구려 공격을 나서는 661년 8월~9월에는 대전 일대에서 전투가 벌어진다. 이는 신라군이 고구려 공격을 나서면서도 부흥운동 세력, 특히 부흥운동과 고구려와의 연계를 견제하는 과정에서 벌어진 것으로 생각된다. 662년 7월~8월에 다시금 이 일대에서 전투가 벌어지는데 부흥운동 세력은 이 전투에서 패배하며 고립 당한다. 이에 어려움을 극복할 새로운 활로로 남쪽 지역을 선택해 이 지역의 경영을 위해 피성으로 거점을 이동한다. 하지만 663년 2월 신라군의 공격으로 신라군에게서 가까운 피성을 떠나 주류성으로 돌아온다. 이후 최후의 결전인 백강 전투가 벌어진다. 백강은 기벌포 기사에 주목할 때 금강으로 파악된다. 부흥운동의 주요 지점과 각 전투의 주체 및 목적을 볼 때 현재 주류성 위치 비정에서 가장 주목을 받는 부안은 주요 활동 지점과의 연결성을 찾아보기 어려워 주류성으로 위치 비정하기에는 어려움이 있다. 이에 서천을 주목, 자연환경이나 건지산성・추동리 유적 등 주변 유적과의 관계, 주요 거점과의 연결성을 볼 때 주류성은 길산천 너머 동서천 일대에 자리했을 것으로 비정된다.

This study would assume the location of Juryu-seong in an understanding of the aspects of the overall development of the Revival Movement. The Revival Movement Forces come to make an effort to recapture the Sabi Fortress, centering around Imjon-seong since the Revival Movement broke out. In addition, the Forces move their base to Juryu-seong in order to efficiently put pressure on the Sabi area and extend their power. As the Tang Armed Forces are isolated with this activity, the Tang Armed Forces and the Silla Armed Forces have battles with the Armed Forces for Revival Movement in Ungjin-gang-gu and Duryangyun-seong to save the areas. Later, in August through September in 661 when Silla Armed Forces head an attack on Goguryeo, a battle takes place in the Daejeon area. It is judged that this happened in the process in which Silla Armed Forces held the connection of the Revival Movement Forces, in particular, the Revival Movement in check with Goguryeo while heading an attack on Goguryeo. From July through August in 662, battles take place in this area, and the Revival Movement Forces are defeated and isolated. Thus, as a new route to overcome the difficulty, the southern region is chosen, and they move the base to Pi-seong to manage this area. However, with the attack of Silla Armed Forces in February 663, they leave Pi-seong which was close to Silla Armed Forces and return to Juryu-seong. Later, the final battle, the battle of Baek-gang, takes place. Baek-gang is judged to be the Geum-gang River when attention is paid to the report on Gibeol-po. Concerning the major bases of the Revival Movement and the subject and purpose of each battle, it is difficult to assume Buan, to which the most attention is drawn currently as the location of Juryu-seong since it is hard to find connectivity with the point of the main activity. Thus, in this study, focusing on Seocheon, the location of Juryu-seong was assumed to be in the East Seocheon area across Gilsancheon, judging from the natural environment, relations with the surrounding remains like Geonji-sanseong and Chudong-ri remains, or the connectivity with the major bases.
