Motivation, Standard Setting, and Satisfaction of Child Support by Type of Time Support Behavior of Mothers of Elementary School Children

This study aims to classify the types of time support behavior of mothers for elementary school children and analyze the characteristics shown by child support motivation, standard setting, and support satisfaction. The final 798 copies were used for data analysis. Women with elementary school children nationwide were surveyed through online surveys. The statistical methods adopted for data analysis are factor analysis, cluster analysis, chi-square analysis, one-way ANOVA and Duncan s multiple range test. The main findings are as follows. The 5 clusters of the supporting behaviors with time are extracted and the names for the each clusters were given as the active supporting type , the passive supporting type . the adjusting type focused children s life time , the independent adjusting type , and the independent-autonomous type . This 5 types of the supporting behaviors with time have significantly different characteristics in family about mother s education background, parents job status, total earned incomes, the housing ownership, and the school year of children. And the characteristics of the motivations, standard setting for supporting children with time show different aspects in the 5 types of supporting behaviors with time. In details, these difference between the 5 types is in the motivation of social contribution, internal regulation, and the assessment of resource related to time, money, human, and then the goal setting in the sub-elements of standard setting. The result about the mother s satisfactions of supporting with time significantly different between the 5 types of supporting behaviors with time. In this study the dimension of the time supporting behavior is composed of planning and implementing in family system process. So this study which finds new dimension of the time supporting behavior suggest desirable implications for the parents supporting for children in elementary school. Especially it is recommended that the supporting behavior for children needs to develop mother s actions of planning and implementing in family system process.
