이 글은 메타버스의 일반적인 특성과 함의를 이해하고 ‘몸’의 개념을 중심으로 신학적인 평가를 통해서 교회에서 메타버스를 적절히 활용하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해서 먼저 메타버스의 정의, 일반적 특성과 사회적 함의, 교회와 관계를 살펴 보았다. 그리고 메타버스의 가상세계와 몸과 실제의 몸의 연속적 차원과 불연속적 차원을 신학적으로 분석하고 평가하였다. 먼저 창조되고 구속된 인간의 본질로서 몸은 메타버스 가상세계와 몸과 다르며 메타버스의 가상세계가 몸에 대해서 병리적으로 인식하게 하는 위험을 살펴보았다. 그러나 그리스도의 몸으로 메타버스의 가상세계는 성도와 성도들, 교회와 교회들을 적절히 연결하여 그리스도의 몸을 구현하는데 도움이 될 수 있다는 점도 살펴보았다. 이러한 몸의 개념을 교회 내 메타버스 활용을 위한 신학적 판단의 근거로 삼았다. 예배와 교육, 목회돌봄과 상담, 전도와 선교에 실천적 제언을 덧붙였다.
The purpose of this article is to understand the general characteristics and implications of the metaverse and to properly use the metaverse in the church through theological evaluation focusing on the concept of ‘body’. To this end, we first looked at the definition of metaverse, its general characteristics and social implications, and its relationship with the church. And the theologically analyzed and evaluated the continuous and discontinuous dimensions of the metaverse s virtual world and the body and the real body. First, as the essence of a human being created and redeemed, the body is different from the virtual world of the metaverse and there is a risk that the virtual world of the metaverse can understand the body pathologically. However, as the body of Christ, the virtual world of the metaverse can be helpful in realizing the body of Christ by properly connecting the saints and the church and the churches. This concept of the body was used as the basis for theological judgment for the use of the metaverse in the church. In addition, practical suggestions were added to worship and education, pastoral care and counseling, and evangelism and missions.
