A Study on Countermeasures for Youth Suicide Prevention

This study aims to examine current situation of the youth suicide and suggest for youth suicide prevention. The contents of this study were reviewed based on the existing statistics and thesis data on the current situation of the youth suicide problem. The main results of the research are summarized as follows. The causes of youth suicide are not one factor, but various causes the factors such as academic stresses, family issues, economic and problems with relationships. Korea showed the highest suicide rate among OECD countries, in addition, the youth suicide rate in Korea exceeds the average and ranks high. The number one cause of youth death in Korea has been suicide over the past decade. While the overall suicide mortality rate is gradually decreasing, the death rate of children and adolescents aged 10 to 19 in Korea gradually increased and suicide was found to be using a fatal method Based on the results, political and empirical suggestions were discussed and finally the implications and limitations of the study were explained
