The Relationship between Family-friendly Organizational Culture and Job Satisfaction - A Comparative Study of Korea and Japan -

The purpose of this article is to investigate the relationship of family-friendly organizational culture, perceived organizational support, WIF, FIW and job satisfaction. This survey has been done by 700 employees in Korea and Japan. From the survey results, we are able to clarify that Korean employees feel high job satisfaction when they perceive a support from their organization. Also, family-friendly organizational culture has effects on decrease of WIF and FIW. As to Japan, family-friendly organizational culture has been influenced on WIF and FIW. Job satisfaction got a positive effect when work interference with family decrease while family interference with work has no effect on it. The most powerful influence on job satisfaction was perceived organizational support. From this comparative research, it is investigated that there are differences between Korea and Japan for the relationships between family-friendly organizational culture and WIF/FIW. Relationships with perceived organizational support and WIF, WIF and job satisfaction also showed differences.
