Exploring the Implications of Music Education for Early Childhood based on Oriental Music Ideas

본 연구는 동양음악사상에 기반한 영유아 음악교육의 함의를 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 이에 따라 동양음악사상을 살펴볼 수 있는 고문헌들을 중심으로 동양음악사상의 특징과 주요한 의미를 도출해 보았다. 동양음악사상의 특징은 음악을 보다 포괄적인 개념인 ‘악(樂)’으로 표현하고 있었고 음악을 즐거움과 즐기는 것으로 보았으며, 천지자연의 조화와 어울림을 중요하게 여기며 삶에서 풀어가는 자연스럽고 자유로운 음악을 강조하고 있었다. 이에 따라 동양음악사상에 기반한 영유아 음악교육의 함의는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 익자삼요(益者三樂) 중 하나로 즐거움과 즐김의 영유아 음악교육을 지향한다. 둘째, 천지지화(天地之和)와 음양지조(陰陽之調)로 조화와 어울림의 영유아 음악교육을 지향한다. 셋째, 자연지화(自然之和)로 자연스럽고 자유로운 영유아 음악교육을 지향한다. 넷째, 정(情)의 교화(敎化)와 수기치인(修己治人)으로 일상에서 꾸준히 하는 영유아 음악교육을 지향한다. 다섯째, 풍류(風流)의 상열가락(相悅歌樂)으로 음악적 본성을 살리는 영유아 음악교육을 지향한다. 이처럼 동양음악사상은 음악의 본질보다 외연의 기능에 초점을 맞추고 있는 현대 영유아 음악교육의 개선해 나갈 방향성을 모색하는 데 많은 시사점을 제공한다.

This study aims to explore the implications of music education for early childhood based on Oriental music ideas. Accordingly, the characteristics and major meanings of Oriental music ideas were derived by focusing on ancient documents that examine them. Oriental music ideas characteristically saw music as an expression of a more comprehensive concept, “evil,” and music was viewed as both joy and enjoyment. Natural and free music was emphasized in life, considering the harmony of heaven and nature. Accordingly, the implications of music education for early childhood based on Oriental music are as follows. First, the aim of music education in early childhood is pleasure and enjoyment, as they are beneficial. The second aim is harmony with the sky and land and the harmony of yin and yang. The third aim is natural and free music education in early childhood for harmony with nature. The fourth aim is consistency in their daily lives by educating others after training themselves. The fifth aim takes advantage of children’s musical nature to learn to play in a tasteful and stylish manner. As such, Oriental music ideas have many implications for directions in which to improve modern childhood music education, which focuses on external functions, rather than the nature of music.
