REBT에서 논박의 허상과 실상

The illusion and reality of disputation in the theory of REBT

REBT 상담의 ABCDE라는 도식화된 상담의 과정에서 D에 해당하는 논박하기의 허상에 대해셔 살펴보고 실상에 대해서 구체적으로 제시하였다. 영어에서 Dispute로 표현되는 원어가 ‘논박하기’라는 우리말로 번역되는 과정에서 발생하는 오류 등을 지적하였다. 특히 논박이라는 용어 속에 스며있는 단어의 상징성 때문에 상담자들이 비합리적 사고의 비논리성에 대해서만 논박을 하는 것의 편협성에 대해서 지적을 하였고, 비합리적 사고의 비현실성과 비실용성에 대해서도 초점을 두고 논박해야 하는 것의 중요성을 설명하였다. 논박은 또한 납득할 수 있는 설명과 같은 지시적 방법보다 더욱 중요한 것은 소크라테스식의 대화법과 같 대표적인 질문기법을 활용하여 내담자가 대답을 하는 과정에서 스스로 자신의 생각이 비합리적이라는 자기발견을 유도해 내는 것이 차원 높은 수준의 논바임을 강조하였다. 논박은 또한 인지적 기법만을 활용하는 것이 아니고 REBT상담이론의 명칭에서 보여주고 있듯이 정서적 기법, 행동적 기법 등을 필요에 따라 다양하게 활용할 수 있는 통합적 치료법임을 강조하였다. REBT상담이 통합적이라고 하더라도 세상에 존재하는 모든 기법을 사용할 수 있는 것이 아니고 최선의 결과를 위해 논박에서 피해야할 기법과 금지하는 기법에 대해셔도 살펴보었다.

In the schematic counseling process called ABCDE of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, I examined the illusion of dispute correseponding to D and presented about reality of dispute. It pointed out errors that occurred in the process of translating the original language expressed as Dispute in English into Korean, which means 'dispute'. In particular, I pointed out the narrowness of disputing the illogicality of irrational thinking because of the symbolism of the word that permeates the term, and explained the importance of disputing by focusing on the unrealistic and impractical aspects of irrational thinking. Furthermore, the dispute emphasized that, more importantly, it was a high-level dispute to induce the self-discovery that his ideas were irrational by using representative questioning techniques such as Socrates's method of dialogue. The dispute also emphasizes that not only cognitive techniques are utilized, but also that emotional and behavioral techniques can be used in a variety of ways as needed, as shown in the name of REBT counseling theory. Even if REBT counseling is integrated, not all techniques that exist in the world can be used, but we also looked at techniques that should be avoided and prohibited in dispute for best results.
