｢のだ․わけだ｣の機能に関する考察: 韓国語｢것이다｣との対照から

Consideration about the Functions of “Noda/Wakeda” : A Comparison with Korean “Kesita”

本研究では｢のだ｣․｢わけだ｣の機能と｢것이다｣の使用条件について分析した。｢のだ｣は話し手の伝えたいことを取り立てて、フォーカスを当てる機能であり、｢わけだ｣は話し手の述べる内容には｢根拠｣があり、正当性を表す機能を持つと考える。｢のだ｣․｢わけだ｣は話し手だけの主観的な判定により用いられるが、それに対して｢것이다｣は使用の制約がある。｢のだ｣にも｢わけだ｣にも話し手と聞き手の間にギャップがある場合、｢것이다｣が対応しやすいということが明らかになった。話し手と聞き手の間にギャップがある場合、話し手の伝えたいことをフォーカスする必要が高く感じられるとき、｢のだ｣に｢것이다｣が対応しやすい。また、｢わけだ｣においても話し手と聞き手の間にギャップがある場合、話し手の主張に根拠があるということを表し、ギャップを埋める必要が高く感じられるとき、｢わけだ｣に｢것이다｣が対応しやすい。｢のだ｣｢わけだ｣は名詞化の機能から文法化するにつれ、対比性が消失され、モダリティとして発達しているが、｢것이다｣はモダリティとして用いられるときも、対比性が強く働いていると考えられる。

In this study, along with the functions of ‘noda’ and ‘wakeda’, the corresponding relationship with ‘kesita’ was analyzed, and the conditions of usage on each form were considered. ‘Noda’ focuses on the content which the speaker wants to convey, when it functions, and ‘wakeda’ is based on the content delivered by the speaker and it functions as an indicator of justification. Compared with them, ‘kesita’ can correspond to the functions of ‘noda’ and ‘wakeda’, but there are some restrictions on its use. ‘Noda’ and ‘wakeda’ are likely to correspond to ‘kesita’, when there is a gap between the speaker and listener, especially a conflictual one. Meanwhile, ‘kesita’ is likely to correspond to ‘noda’, when the necessity of the speaker’s content which focuses on delivery is highly needed. ‘Wakeda’ is also likely to correspond to ‘kesita’, when it is necessary to show the speaker’s point which has ground and justification to the opposing listener. However, when ‘noda’ and ‘wakeda’ come with a conjunction, ‘kesita’ does not correspond to them. ‘Noda’ and ‘wakeda’ have developed into a modality expression due to the loss of contrast while it grammaticalized from the function of nominalization. However, ‘kesita’ has not lost contrast and it functions strongly, when it is used as a modality expression.
