A Study on Non-Medical Income of Medical Institutions: Focusing on accounting information disclosure data

본 연구는 의료기관이 내·외적 의료 환경으로 인하여 경영성과가 악화하고 있는 시점에 의료기관의 경영성과 증대를 위해 의료수익 중 의료 외 수익의 다변화를 모색하며 의료기관의 의료 외 수익(부대사업)을 통한 경영성과의 효율을 높이기 위함이다. 한국보건 산업진흥원 회계 공시자료를 이용하여 2018~2020년의 3년간 의료기관의 COVID-19이전· 이후의 의료 외 수익에 관한 전반적인 분석을 하였다. 의료기관의 의료수익, 의료이익, 의료비용, 총수익, 의료 외 수익, 의료수익경상이익률, 의료수익의료이익률, 총수익대비 의료 외 수익 비율의 변화와 종별, 설립 형태별, 병상 규모별, 소재지별, 경영성과에 따른 의료 외 수익의 차이 분석과 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 본 연구의 결과를 제시하면 의료기관의 의료 외 수익은 2018~2020년 3년간 지속해서 증가하였다. 특히, 의료 외 수익은 COVID-19 발생 연도에 큰 폭으로 증가하였다. 의료 환경의 변화로 인한 의료기관은 경영성과를 높이기 위해 의료수익 및 의료 외 수익을 다변화하고 있다. 의료 외 수익의 증가는 감염병 COVID-19 이후 관련 기업들이 기부금과 바이오 분야 연구사업, 임상 연구비, 진료·교육연구비, COVID-19 손실 보상금 등의 증가로 보인다. 의료 외 수익의 수익성 지표인 의료수익경상이익률에 요인을 다중회귀분석 결과 경영성과가 유의한 영향을 미치는 결과가 나타났다. 흑자 병원이든 적자 병원이든 의료 외 수익이 경영성과에 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있었다. 시사점은 의료기관의 주요 수입원인 진료수익도 중요하지만, 의료 외 수익 구조의 다각화를 통한 경영성과 증대에 노력해야 할 것이다.

This study conducted an overall analysis of non-medical income before and after COVID-19 of medical institutions in 2018-2020 using publicly available data from the Korea Health Industry Development Institute. The purpose of this study is to increase the efficiency of management performance through non-medical profit of medical institutions. Annual changes in medical income, medical profit, medical cost, total revenue, non-medical income, medical income recurring profit margin, medical profit margin, non-medical income to total revenue ratio and business performance, type, establishment type, size of hospital beds , a differential analysis of non-medical income by location and multiple regression analysis were performed. Presenting the results of this study, non-medical income of medical institutions increased continuously during 2018-2020. In particular, the year of occurrence of COVID-19 has increased significantly. Medical institutions due to changes in the medical environment are diversifying their medical and non-medical income to improve their business performance. As a result of multiple regression analysis of factors on the medical income recurring profit rate, which is a profitability indicator of non-medical income, it was found that business performance had a significant effect. Whether it is a positive (+) hospital or a negative (-) hospital, it was found that non-medical income is an important variable in business performance.
