Z세대 통일의식에 영향을 미치는 요인 연구

Factors Affecting Generation Z's Consciousness of Unification: Focused on University Students in Busan

본 연구는 Z세대 중심으로 통일에 대한 의식에 영향을 미치는 요인을 실증적으로 살펴보았다. 구성원들이 통일을 어떻게 인식하고 어떤 가치와 태도를 지니는지에 따라 통일 방식과 과정, 통일 여부가 달라질 수 있기 때문에 통일 의식은 학문적으로도 중요하다. 분석 결과, 통일을 통한 경제적 편익, 외교안보적 실리추구, 민족 정체성 확보를 통한 사회문화적 통합, 마지막으로 국내 정치적 갈등 해소순으로 통일의 필요성을 인식하고 있었다. 또한 여학생보다는 군복무를 경험한 남학생들이 통일에대해서 더 부정적으로, 보수적 성향보다는 중도 진보적 정치성향을 지닌 Z세대가 통일에 대해서긍정적으로 인식하는 것으로 나타났다. 기존 세대와는 달리 사회문화적 환경 변화로 인해 통일이라는 민족적 당위성에 대한 공감이 낮은 Z세대의 결과는 통일의 가능성과 연계된다는 점에서 향후정책적 관심을 가져야 할 필요가 있다.

This study empirically examined the factors that affect the Z generation's consciousness about the unification of North and South Korea. The method and process of unification, and whether or not to reunify, vary depending on how members perceive about the unification, and what values and attitudes they have towards on the reunification of North and South Korea. As a result of the analysis, the necessity of unification was recognized in the following order: economic benefits through unification, pursuit of diplomatic and security benefits, socio-cultural integration through securing national identity, and finally, resolution of domestic political conflicts. Moreover, Generation Z, who had a centrist-progressive political orientation rather than conservative tendencies, perceived unification positively. Unlike the previous generation, Generation Z, who has low sympathy for the national necessity of unification due to changes in the socio-cultural environment, is related to the possibility of unification. Therefore, it is necessary to consider their consciousness about the reunification in the future policy direction.
