Agamben’s Language and Politics: from Exception to Paradigm

이 연구의 목표는 서구 사유를 지배해온 아리스토텔레스의 문자 중심의 언어와윤리와 정치에 대항하여 플라톤의 패러다임에 기초하여 언어와 윤리와 정치를 복구하려는 아감벤의 작업을 탐색하는 것이다. 플라톤 패러다임의 도식 ‘사물 그 사물자체’에서 ‘그 사물 자체’는 사물의 자체성으로 사물의 자기 지시를 나타내어 사물의 언어적 존재가 발생함을 의미한다. 패러다임의 핵심은 ‘작동 중지’에 의한 배제적 포함이다. 사물이 배제되면 그 사물뿐만 아니라 자신이 속한 집단 전체가 드러나게 한다. 구체적인 사물이 작동 중지(배제)되면 그 사물 자체(포함)가 발생한다. 그러나 아리스토텔레스는 ‘그 사물 자체’는 ‘사물’을 단순히 ‘복제’한 것으로생각하여 그것을 ‘배제’하고 문자로 자체성을 대체한다. 문자는 목소리 중에 ‘자음/ 모음으로 구축 가능한’ ‘이성적인 목소리’이다. 이 이성적인 목소리인 문자는 목소리로부터 ‘자음/모음으로 구축되지 않는 부분’을 ‘포함해서 배제’하는 ‘예외구조’를따른다. 아리스토텔레스의 문자에 기초한 언어와 윤리와 정치는 ‘예외상황’에서 벗어날 수가 없다. 아감벤은 벤야민을 이어받아 문자 중심의 언어와 윤리와 정치를 ‘작동 중지’시켜 패러다임에 의한 언어와 윤리와 정치를 복구하려고 한다. ‘작동 중지’를 통해서문자는 문자 자체가 되어 문자 존재가 드러난다. 벤야민의 프롤레타리아 총파업은프롤레타리아를 ‘작동 중지’시켜서 프롤레타리아 자체라는 프롤레타리아 존재를 드러낸다. 프롤레타리아 총파업은 행위인 것 같지만, 행위없음이라는 행위를 작동 중지시켜 행위 자체를 드러낸다. 총파업에서 행위와 행위없음이 일치한다. 이때 행위자체라는 행위의 존재가 드러난다. 패러다임의 작동으로 ‘노동의 성격이 완전히 변형되는 무정부주의적인’ 프롤레타리아 총파업은 ‘예외상황’을 ‘작동 중지’시키는벤야민이 제시하는 ‘진짜 예외상황’의 예가 된다.

The aim of this paper is to do research on Giorgio Agamben’s efforts to recover language, ethics and politics based on Plato’s paradigm against language, ethics and politics of Aristotle’s gramma: letter that has dominated Western thoughts. In Plato’s paradigm syntagma, ‘a thing the thing itself,’ ‘the thing itself’ as ipseity of a thing referring to self-reference of a thing indicates the birth of linguistic being of a thing. The essence in paradigm is ‘exclusive inclusion’ through inoperativity. With an exclusion of a thing, not only a thing but also its class which it belongs to will be exposed. By rendering ‘a thing’ inoperative (exclusion), the thing itself (inclusion) takes place. Aristotle, however, considers ‘the thing itself’ as a simple ‘duplicate’ of a thing and excludes it and in its place, he positions ‘gramma.’ Gramma is a reasoned voice in voice that can be articulated with vowels and consonants. Gramma, a reasoned voice, follows the structure of state of exception in which it sets up itself by inclusively excluding parts in voice that can not be articulable with vowels and consonants. Language and ethics and politics based on Aristotle’s gramma cannot get away from structure by state of exception. Following Walter Benjamin, Agamben redeems language and ethics and politics on paradigm, by rendering inoperative language and ethics of politics on Aristotle’s gramma. Inoperativity turns gramma into gramma itself, exposing being of gramma. Benjamin’s proletariat general strike renders proletariat inoperative, leading to exposure of proletariat itself and being of proletariat simultaneously.
