Changes in Images by Ponytail Position and Gender Preferences

Ponytail hairstyles have been popular among modern people thanks to their convenience in styling and time efficiency in hectic daily routine. This study attempted to investigate changes in the image of ponytail hair styles by their different position and gender preferences. For this, a questionnaire survey was performed against men and women in their 10-50s from around the country. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis and cross-tabulation analysis, using SPSS 21.0, and the results found the followings: In terms of an image by the ponytail type, low ponytail and middle/high ponytail revealed ‘elegant’ and ‘sporty’ respectively while ‘cute’ was found in side-ponytail, 2-ponytail and half-up ponytail. Among them, ‘low ponytail’ was most preferred. The respondents were also positive in having such hair style. Therefore, it is anticipated that there would be further use and development in ponytail hair styles through diverse changes.
