소셜미디어 뷰티 콘텐츠의 이용과 댓글 소비가 온정적 성차별 태도, 주도적 역할 수행에 대한 태도 및 집합행동의도에 미치는 영향

The Influence of Beauty Contents Use and Comments in Social Media on Benevolent Sexism, Attitude toward Leading Role, and Collective Action Indention

본 연구는 개인적 차원에 한정되어있던 미디어 이용과 여성의 외모에 대한 논의를 성별 불평등과같은 사회구조 속에서 그 의미를 탐색하기 위한 것이다. 구체적으로 뷰티 콘텐츠 이용에 대한 내재적･외재적 동기와 댓글 소비가 온정적 성차별 태도로 이어지는가, 나아가 주도적 역할 수행에 대한여성들의 태도와 집합행동의도에 영향을 미치는가를 실증적으로 살피고자 했다. 이러한 연구목적을달성하기 위해 편의표본인 대학생 156명으로부터 얻어진 설문자료를 회귀분석을 통해 분석했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 뷰티콘텐츠의 외재적 동기는 온정적 성차별 태도에 정적인 영향을미쳤다. 둘째, 온정적 성차별 태도는 여성의 주도적 역할 수행에 대한 편향적 태도를 증가시켰다. 마지막으로 편향적 태도는 조직참여를 위한 집합행동의도를 감소시키는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 미디어를 통한 여성 이미지의 소비가 온정적 성차별 태도를 거쳐 조직에서의 행동으로까지이어질 수 있음을 보여준다. 이를 통해 여성 이미지 소비에 대한 논의들이 여성의 사회적 활동에대한 차원으로 확대될 필요가 있음을 제언하였다. 더불어 본 연구의 시도가 외모에 대한 억압으로부터 여성 해방을 위한 근본적이고 실질적인 대안을 고민해보는 기회를 제공해줄 것으로 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to explore the meaning of media use and female appearance in social structures such as gender inequality. Specifically, this study attempted to examine whether the intrinsic and extrinsic motives for the use of beauty contents, and the comments lead to benevolent sexism. Furthermore, it was verified whether women’s attitudes toward leading role influence the collective action intention. In order to achieve the research purpose, a survey was conducted on college students and the following results were derived. First, the extrinsic motivation of beauty contents had a positive effect on the benevolent sexism. Second, the benevolent sexism increased the bias toward women’s leading role performance. Finally, the biased attitude was found to reduce the collective action intention for organizational participation. The results of this study show that the consumption of women’s images through media can lead to behaviors in the organization through a benevolent sexism. Through this, it was suggested that discussions on consumption of women’s image need to be expanded to the dimension of women’s social activities. In addition, the attempt of this study is expected to provide an opportunity to consider fundamental and practical alternatives for the liberation of women from the suppression of appearance.
