중국이 부상함에 따라 동북아 지역의 안보환경도 변화하고 있다 중국은 . 경제뿐만 아니라 정치·군사·외교적 측면에서도 영향력 확대를 위해 노력 중이다. 중국의 시진핑 국가 주석은 2013년 첫 번째 임기가 시작된 이후 최근 제19차 공산당 당 대회에 이르기까지 ‘중국몽’을 지속적으로 강조하고 있다. 사회주의 현대화 건설과 중화민족의 위대한 부흥이라는 국가적 목표를 제시한 것이다. 중국의 부상에 따라 한반도 및 동북아를 중심으로 한 강대국들 간의 역학관계도 급변하고 있다. 이러한 상황에서 현존 패권국 미국과 새롭게 부상 중인 중국의 관계가 심각하게 악화될 경우 한국은 매우 어려운 외교적 상황에 직면할 가능성이 있다. 특히 한반도 및 동북아를 중심으로 한 강대국들(미국, 중국, 일본, 러시아 등)의 세력전이가 어떻게 전개될 것인지에 대한 해답을 얻기 위해서는 중국의 대외정세 인식과 전략을 분석하는 것이 중요하다. 이러한 판단 하에 본 논문은 중국의 동북아 및 한반도 정책을 분석하고, 이를 바탕으로 한국의 바람직한 중국정책을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 한다.
With the rise of China, the security environment of Northeast Asia has been changing. China is making efforts to expand its influence in the political, military, and diplomatic aspects as well as in economy. Xi Jinping, President of People's Republic of China, has consistently emphasized the "Chinese Dream" from the beginning of his first term in 2013 to the recent 19th convention of the Community Party. With the Chinese Dream, he has proposed a set of goals for the nation including the foundation of a modernized socialist state and the great revival of the Chinese nation. With the emergence of China, the dynamics of the power relations in the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia are also rapidly changing. In this situation, South Korea will face a very difficult diplomatic circumstance if the relations between the current hegemonic power of U.S.A. and newly emerging power of China are severly deteriorated. In particular, it is of significant importance to analyze China's perceptions and strategies of overseas affairs in order to find answers to the development of power transition among the great powers (U.S.A., China, Japan, and Russia) around the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia. With this in mind, this study aims to propose South Korea's desirable policies toward China through a focus on analyzing China's policies in relation to Northeast Asia and the Korean Peninsula.
