A Study on 'Southeast Asian Phenomena' in Korea: Focusing on Indonesian Labor Immigration

본 논문은 인도네시아 이주노동을 중심으로 한국 속 ‘동남아현상’을 분석하고자 하였다. 한국 속 ‘동남아현상’은 한국에서 나타나는 초국가주의적 현상의 하나로서, 다문화주의를 추동시켜내는 하나의 원인이다. 본 논문은 한국행을 선택하는 인도네시아 이주노동자들의 원인과 과정을 분석함으로써 한국과 인도네시아라는 두 공간에서 어떠한 문화교차현상이 나타나고 있는지를 연구하였다. 한국행 이주노동의 선택요인, 고용허가제를 매개로한 두 국가 사이의 법제도교차, 제도와 문화 사이의 상호작용, 한국문화에 대한 인도네시아 이주노동자들의 경험과 평가를 분석함으로써 ‘인도네시아 속의 한국문화’와 ‘한국 속의 인도네시아 문화’ 현상을 설명하였다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the 'Southeast Asian Phenomena' in Asia based on Indonesian Labour Immigration to Korea. The 'Southeast Asian Phenomena' in Korea is one of transnationalism phenomena and transnationalism effect also have been produced multiculturalism phenomena in Korea. This paper is to study the causes and process of labor immigration from Indonesia to Korea for discussing how to develop of crossing-culture or interaction-culture phenomena between space of Korea and space of Indonesia. To explain this phenomena, this study have been explained the choice factor of Indonesian labor immigration to Korea, institutional effect of Employment Permission System between Indonesia and Korea and Indonesian worker's Korean culture experience. Therefore we have to consider the phenomena of "the Korean culture in Indonesia" and "the Indonesian culture in Korea".
