하왕조 강역과 우공구주 고찰

Xia Dynasty Territory and Wugongguju

최근 중국 역사학계의 성과에 따르면 하왕조는 실존하는 역사다. 하상주단대공정에서는 그 연대를 서기전 2070년에서 서기전 1600년까지라고 특정하기까지 했다. 『서경』이나 『사기』 등의 고대 문헌에는 하왕조의 시조인 우(禹)가 중국천하에 9주를 개척하여 변방의 이민족들에게 조공을 받았다는 이야기가 있다. 이 우공구주(禹公九州) 이야기는 우가 황하 유역뿐만 아니라 장강·회수 등을 다스리고, 견산·기산·형산 등 9산을 개발해 소통시켰다는 내용이다. 그런데 우공구주의 강역은 중국의 최초 통일제국인 진(秦)나라 강역보다 크고, 나아가 전한 때의 무제(武帝)가 넓힌 그것에 버금가고 있다. 고대 사서에 우공구주의 강역이 이렇게 넓게 묘사된 것은 먼 옛날부터 전승되어 내려온 우공구주 강역을 후대의 선현이나 사가들이 왜곡했기 때문으로 여겨진다. 이에 본고에서는 이리두 유적에 의거하고, 또 우공구주에 나타난 지명을 비판적으로 검토해 하나라의 강역을 살펴보았다. 그 결과 하나라의 세력권은 이리두 문화가 존재하는 일대, 즉 황하를 중심으로 한 하남성 북부와 산서성 남부 일대에 한정되어 있었음을 확인할수 있다.

According to the recent achievements of Chinese history, the Xia Dynasty was a real history. The xia-shang-zhou Chronology Project even identified the date from BC 2070 to BC 1600. In ancient literature, such as Seogyeong and Sagi, there is a story that Wu, the ancestor of the Xia Dynasty, pioneered nine states in China and received tributes from immigrants on the periphery. The story of Wugongguju is that Wu ruled the Yellow River basin and the Yangtze River, as well as the Huisui River, and developed and communicated nine mountains including Gyeonsan, Gisan, and Hyeongsan. However, the territory of Wugongguju is larger than the territory of Qin, the first unified empire of China, it is similar to the territory that was expanded during the Hanmuje. The wide-ranging portrayal of the territory of Wugongguju in ancient history is believed to be due to the distortion of the area of Wugongguju, which has been handed down from a long time ago, by later ancestors or historians. In this article, we looked at Xia Dynasty territory by critically reviewing the geographical names in Wugongguju based on Erlitou archaeological site. As a result, it was confirmed that Xia Dynasty sphere of influence was limited to the area where Erlitou culture existed, the northern part of Hanam and the southern part of Shanxi Province, centered on the Yellow River.
