본고조선과 전국시대 연나라와의 국경문제는 매우 중요한 문제이다. 고대 중국의 동쪽 경계는 우리 고대사인 고조선의 강역을 살피는데 무엇보다도 우선인것이다. 우리나라 최초의 국가인 고조선 후기의 강역을 명확히 밝혀야만 올바른 역사인식을 가질 수 있는 것이다. 중국역사학자들은 현재 자국의 영토를 기준으로고대의 다른 나라 민족의 역사를 모두 자국의 역사로 둔갑시키는 일을 하고 있다. 당시의 중국 사료들의 기록에 의하면 전국시대의 연나라는 전국7웅 가운데에서도 가장 약소국으로 평가를 하고 있는데도 식민사학자들은 고대의 요동을현재의 요하 동쪽으로 인식하여 연장성의 동단인 양평을 요하의 동쪽인 요양으로 비정하고, 그 경계를 우리나라 청천강 유역인 평북 박천까지인 한반도 서북부 지역까지 영향력을 행사하였다고 주장한다. 이것은 일제 강점기의 식민사관을 그대로 이어받은 식민사학자들이 중국의 역사학자들의 주장을 아무런 내용의비판도 없이 그대로 추종·동조하여 중국학자들이 주장들을 뒤에서 받들고 있는실정이다. 고대의 여러 사료들을 보면 전혀 사실 무근이다.
