이제마 천기론의 구조(1)

A Study on the Structure of Lee Jema's Cheonki Theory(天機論) Part 1

이 논문은 이제마 사상의학의 출발을 이루는 천기의 개념에 대해 그 역사적 연원을 추적한다. 지금까지 천기에 대한 연구는 문학을 중심으로 이루어져 왔을 뿐 의학에서 천기는 본격적으로 논의되지 않았다. 따라서 천기 개념의 연원이 어디에 있는지, 그리고 그 개념은 어떻게 변천해왔으며 특히 조선 후기의 사회에서 어떻게 받아들여지고 있었는지에 대해 알아본 다음 그것이 이제마에게 어떻게 수용되고 있는지를 연구한다. 본고는 조선시대에 이루어진 철학적 성과, 특히 사단칠정(四端七情)과 연관된 논쟁이 성정론과 이기론의 종합이라는 과제를 수행한 것이라면 김창협을 거쳐 이루어진 성정론과 천기론의 ‘절충’이 이제마에게서 종합되어 그의 독특한 ‘성명론’을 만들었다는 가정을 증명할 것이다.

1. Objectives Lee Jema's Cheonki Theory is the starting point of his Sasang theory and also is the most basic structure of his theory. Until now there is rare studies on this subject. To study Leejema's Cheonki Theory on historical and philosophical(conceptual) base is our purpose. 2. Method of Research First, we examine the history of Seongjeong Theory(性情論) which theorize human nature and it's representation both in China and Chosun. Secondly we examine Cheonki Theory of Taoists and Confucian scholars in China. 3. Result Cheonki Theory is developed from Seongjeong Theory. It arises from the contradiction of Seongjeong Theory which and tries to solve the problem. The contradiction reflects the rise of need of personals and the middle class especially in middle and late feudal society. 4. Conclusion Lee Jema's Cheonki Theory is the synthesis of Seongjeong Theory and Cheonki Theory. And it is the bodied synthesis of Seongjeong Theory aiming the harmonious order both in society and body.
