인간의 탄생성과 출산행위

A Natality and Giving Birth to Human Beings as Action

인간의 탄생이란 한 개인의 삶의 최초의 시작이며 동시에 인간관계 속에서 발생하는 생식과 출산이라는 공동 행위를 통해 공동체를 구성하는 사회적 사건이다. 인류의 역사 속에서 탄생을 통해 사회적 공동체를 형성하게 한 출산행위는 고대부터 산파나 여성치료자의 도움으로 가정이나 지역공동체에서 이루어졌다. 그러나 근대이후 전문 의료기관이 등장하고 생명탄생의 자연적 과정에 과학과 의료기술이 적극적으로 개입하면서 임신과 출산에 대한 의료적 관리가 일상화되었다. 이 논문에서는 오늘날 출산과 생식보조기술 사용이 야기하는 인간 탄생성이 지닌 근본적인 실존적 물음을 제기하고자 한다. 그리고 이것이 공동의 인간관계 속에서 시작되는 출산행위에 미치는 제도적 영향력을 비판적으로 성찰하면서 공동체 내에서 출산 행위의 정치학이라는 공적 논의를 활성화하고자 한다. 그래서 우선 인간의 삶의 가장 근원적인 실존적 조건이며 동시에 인간관계 속에서 행위를 시작하게 하는 인간 탄생의 의미를 철학적으로 고찰해 본다. 이를 위해 공동의 세계 속에서 ‘스스로 시작함’이라는 탄생성을 함축하고 있는 인간의 출산 행위의 의미를 특히 아렌트의 탄생철학에 근거하여 고찰해 보고, 최근의 여성의 몸을 에워싼 보조생식기술과 출산기술의 사용에 대한 여성주의 입장을 검토해 보기로 하겠다. 궁극적으로 이 글은 공동체 속에서 출산행위가 나아가야 할 방향을 아렌트의 시작의 정신으로서 탄생성의 철학에 근거하여 철학적으로 재조명해 보고자 하는 것이다.

Birth of human being appears from the common cooperative actions of the giving birth, which is connected with human relationship in social and culture context. This birth means the new beginning into the world, which can not be expected from whatever may have happened before, like miracle. In this paper, I reflect the meaning of Arendt’s notion of natality as the potential of action, which enables the initiative beginning in a common world. In this respect, giving birth can be regarded as a initiative human activity in human relationship in community. And then, I try to examine the feminist approach to the recent medical care of the delivery and reproduction assisting technologies. Specially, I criticize the recent power of the reproduction technologies, which control the delivery process and dominate human cooperative actions in human relationships. From Arendt’ s viewpoint of the natality, I discuss the technical domination of the delivery process as work of medical technologies. I think, this technical medical domination runs the risk of ruining the meaning of natality-that is, an power of initiative action. Ultimately, in this paper, I provide critical reflection about the medical care system of the delivery based on the notion of the natality and illuminate giving birth as a human activity, which form the web of human affairs in the human relationship in the community, create narratives in human history.
