탈구축을 통한 새로운 서사 윤리 전략

A New Strategy for Narrative Ethics through Deconstruction - Critical Narrative Ethics

서사 윤리는 두 양태를 띠고 있다. 하나는 임상 서사 윤리로, 서사학의 방법론을 통해 사례에서 가려졌거나 무시되었던 지점을 드러내어 환자, 가족 등이 말하지 못한 가치를 발견하여 돌려주려고 하는 임상적 실천을 말한다. 다른 하나는 문학 서사 윤리로, 독자와 텍스트 사이의 윤리적 관계가 실천으로 이어짐을 살피는 비평적 작업을 말한다. 현재 서사 윤리적 실천은 둘을 결합하는 방식으로 이뤄진다. 이것은 기존 임상 서사 윤리가 상대주의라는 비판을 넘어서기 위함이지만 모든 윤리적 판단에서 답을 내릴 수 있는 초월적 판단자를 요청한다는 난점을 지닌다. 데리다는 철학과 문학 등 여러 영역에 상대주의를 공고하게 만든 장본인이라는 비판을 받는다. 그러나 이것은 데리다가 내놓은 결과물 일부분만을 본 것이다. 그의 철학적 결과물 전체를 볼 때, 데리다 철학은 오히려 상대주의를 넘어서고자 노력했음을 알 수 있다. 본 논문은 임상 서사 윤리와 임상과 문학 두 서사 윤리를 결합한 서사 윤리가 데리다가 넘어서려고 했던 상대주의와 부정신학적 형이상학을 따르고 있음을 살핀다. 이어 논문은 데리다 후기 작업을 포괄한 탈구축 개념을 통해 서사 윤리를 확장할 것을 제안한다. 이는 의료윤리를 통한 비평을, 그리고 그 비평을 통한 의료윤리 사례의 판단을 통해 기존 서사 윤리에 제기된 비판에 하나의 해결책을 제시하고자 함이다.

Narrative ethics has developed on two strands. One is clinical narrative ethics, which reveals hidden or neglected voices in medical ethics cases with methodologies of narratology. The other is literary narrative ethics, which focuses on the ethical relationship between the reader and the text. It is a work of literary criticism drawing an ethical perspective or resolution from the text. Currently, the practice of narrative ethics combines two strands. This tries to overcome the criticism that clinical narrative ethics is relativism, but it has its own difficulty of requesting a transcendental judge who can answer all ethical issues. Derrida is criticized for being the main culprit behind the strengthening of relativism in the field of philosophy and literature. But this is a prejudiced perspective based on the part of Derrida’s works. Looking at his philosophical findings in its entirety, he shows that he has rather strived to transcend relativism. This paper examines that clinical narrative ethics and current narrative ethics, which combines clinical and literary narrative ethics, follow relativism and metaphysics from negative theology. We suggest an expansion of narrative ethics through deconstruction which encompasses later works of Derrida. This could provide an answer to the denunciation of narrative ethics, with a literary criticism based on medical ethics and judgment of ethical cases based on criticism.
