항공사 승무원 취업준비생의 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 취업불안의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성의 매개효과

The Mediating Effect of Social Comparison Tendency on the Relationship between Intolerance of Uncertainty and Job-Seeking Anxiety with Flight Attendant Job Applicants

목적 항공사 승무원 취업준비생이 인식하는 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 취업불안의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성의 매개 효과를 탐색하여 항공사 승무원 취업준비생의 취업 지원을 위한 기초 자료를 제공하는 것이다. 방법 이를 위해 2022년 1월 3일부터 3월 31일까지 약 3개월에 걸쳐 S시, B시에 소재하고 있는 4년제 항공서비스학과 3개 학교, 승무원 양성학원 3곳의 항공사 승무원 취업준비생 303명을 대상으로 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족, 사회비교 경향성, 취업불안을 측정하는 설문을 실시한 후 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 취업불안 간의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성이 매개 효과를 보이는지 검증하였다. 결과 수집된 자료를 분석한 주요 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 항공사 승무원 취업준비생의 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 사회비교 경향성 모두 취업불안에 유의미한 정적 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 항공사 승무원 취업준비생의 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족과 취업불안의 관계에서 사회비교 경향성은 부분 매개를 하는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 불확실성에 대한 인내력 부족이 취업불안에 직접적인 영향을 주고 있을 뿐만 아니라 사회비교 경향성을 통해 취업불안에 간접적인 영향을 주고 있음을 의미한다고 볼 수 있다. 결론 이러한 결과를 토대로 항공사 승무원 취업 준비생이 경험하는 취업불안을 조력하기 위한 취업교육 및 상담에 대한 시사점을 논하고, 본 연구의 제한점 및 후속연구에 대한 제언을 논의하였다.

Objectives The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job-seeking anxiety and to verify the mediating effect of social comparison tendency. Methods The study included 303 flight attendant job applicants who were asked to complete a survey on self-concept clarity, intolerance of uncertainty, social comparison tendency, and job-seeking anxiety from January 1 to March 31, 2022, for a total of three months, and 303 of them were used for statistical analysis, excluding unreliable responses. Results The results showed that intolerance of uncertainty and social comparison tendency were positively correlated with job-seeking anxiety. Additionally, social comparison tendency was found to have mediating effects on the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job-seeking anxiety. Conclusions The results suggest the need for further investigation of the important role of social comparison tendency related to uncertainty tolerance and career anxiety of flight attendant job applicants. Based on the findings of this study, the researchers discussed ways to improve career education and counseling for flight attendant job applicants who experience emotional difficulties in their preparation. Other implications and limitations of this study are discussed, along with suggestions for future studies.
