기후변화와 국제관광수요의 관계에 관한 연구

Implications of Extreme Weather Change for International Tourism Industry: A Case of Japanese Tourist visiting Korea

기후는 관광지의 자원이자 관광객 경험에 영향을 미치는 요소로 이의 변화를 추정하는 것은관광산업의 지속가능한 발전을 위한 시사점을 줄 수 있다. 본 연구는 극한기후의 변화가 관광수요에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위한 것으로 2005년 1월부터 2016년 12월까지의 월별자료를 이용하여 실증분석을 실시하였다. 사용된 극한기후지표는 집중호우한계점, 최대건조 지속기간, 월최저기온, 월최고기온이며 자기상관과 이분산성을 고려하여 패널 GLS 분석을 실시하였다. 분석결과 극한기후변화는 관광수요에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 계절별로 영향변수, 방향성, 영향정도가 각각 차이를 보였다. 이러한 결과는 기후변화에 따른 관광수요의 영향을 보다 효율적으로 추정하기 위해서는 극한기후변화가 고려되어져야 하며, 이때계절에 따른 추정이 필요함을 시사한다.

Climate is a source of tourism and a factor influencing tourist experience. Therefore estimating the changes can give some implications for the sustainable development of the tourism industry. The purpose of this study is to investigate the impact of extreme weather changes on tourism demand. For this, empirical analysis was conducted using monthly data from January 2005 to December 2016. The extreme climate indicators used were panel rainfall threshold, maximum dry duration, monthly minimum temperature, monthly maximum temperature, and panel GLS analysis with autocorrelation and heterogeneity.
