북한이탈주민들의 ‘정체성의 이주’ 패러다임에 관한 연구

A study on the 'migration of identity' paradigm of North Korean migrants

본 연구의 목적은 북한이탈주민들의 전 세계적인 이주현상을 분석하기 위한 이론적 틀로 ‘정체성의 이주’개념을 제기하고 그 패러다임을 분석하는 데 있다. 정체성은 공간과 경계를 타고 끊임없이 변화한다. 본 논문에서 제기하는 ‘이주의 정체성’과 ‘정체성의 이주’는 북한이탈주민의 탈남을 포함하는 해외 이주현상의 특수한 이주 패러다임을 분석하기 위한 개념이다. ‘이주의 정체성’은 한 국가 내에서 다양한 정치·경제·사회·문화적 경계의 상호작용과 모국·타국의 문화적 경계에 따른 정체성의 변화이다. 이와 다르게 ‘정체성의 이주’는 주로 외적요인(타자화된 정체성, 외부정보의 혼란, 생존 등)에 의한 정체성의 변화가 다수의 국가경계와 공간을 넘나들며 생존을 위한 이주를 가능하게 하는 특유의 이주현상이다. 이 경우 합법이든 불법이든, 외적요인은 정체성의 혼란이나 변화를 유도하는 유일한 수단이다. 북한이탈주민 ‘정체성의 이주’ 패러다임에 대한 연구는 현재 북한이탈주민의 전 세계적 이주현상의 원인과 문제점을 정체성의 관점에서 새롭게 조명한다. 나아가 남북 통합의 관점에서 새로운 갈등의 중심에 서 있는 북한이탈주민들의 사회적 통합을 위한 실질적인 방안을 제시한다.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the paradigm of the concept of 'migration of identity' as a theoretical framework for analyzing the global migration phenomenon of North Korean migrants. Identity constantly changes in space and boundaries. The 'identity of migration' and 'migration of identity' presented in this paper are a concept to analyze the special migration paradigm of the phenomenon of overseas migration of North Korean migrants including the leaving South Korea. 'Identity of migration' is the change of identity due to the interactions of various political, economic, social, and cultural boundaries within a country and the cultural boundaries of the mother country and other countries. In contrast, the 'migration of identity' is mainly a change of identity due to external factors (identity which has become the other, confusion of external information, survival, etc.), crossing many national boundaries and spaces, and a unique migration phenomenon to be enable migration for survival. In this case, whether legitimate or illegal, external factors are the only means of inducing confusion or change in identity. A study of the 'migration of identity' paradigm is a prospect that it can function as a measure to predict the causes and problems of the global migration of North Korean migrants and the identity of North Korean migrants after unification.
