지정학적 용어 해석과 유라시아 남부지역 Pivot area의 성격

Interpretation of Geopolitical Term and Character to Eurasian southland

본 논고는 지정학적 용어해석과 유라시아 남부지역 추축지대(pivot area)의 성격에 대한 연구이다. 지정학은 다양한 공간적 관계를 분석하고 해석한다. 국제정치과정은 경쟁을 유발하게 되고, 전략적 요충지를 중심으로 갈등관계가 형성된다. 그리고 이러한 문제를 해석하는 과정에서 다양한 지정학적 용어가 등장한다. 추축지대(pivot area), 전략적 해협(choke point), 분산성 지역(shatterbelt) 등과 같은 용어가 그것이다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 용어를 국제관계속에서 해석하고, 지정학적 용어 해석에 기초해서 유라시아 남부지역에서 발생되고 있는 경쟁의 정치과정을 설명하고 있다. 본고는 유라시아 주변부 지역 추축지대(pivot area) 중에서 갈등 관계가 가장 심각하게 발생하고 있는 남부지역 추축지대(pivot area)와 분산성 지역(shatterbelt)을 분석하고 동일 지역에 대한 지정학적 성격을 평가하였다. 유라시아 남부지역에서 갈등의 강도가 깊은 이유는 동일 지역이 추축지대(pivot area), 분산성 지역(Shatterbelt), 그리고 전략적 해협(choke point)의 성격을 동시에 갖고 있기 때문이다. 그리고 동일의 추축지대(pivot area)를 중심으로 전개되는 세력권(sphere of influence) 확장 경쟁이 갈등의 강도를 높여주고 있기 때문이다.

This article aims to study about interpretation of the geopolitical terms and the characters of pivotal area in the southern part of Eurasia. The various spatial relations are analyzed and interpreted by Geopolitics. International political process provokes competition and develops conflicts with neighboring countries for their strategic places. Also, the various geopolitical terms are generated while interpreting these problems, and the terms like Pivot Area, Choke Point, Shatterbelt are good examples of those. Those terms are interpreted in the process of international relations, and the political process of competition occurred in the southern part of Eurasia is analysed based on interpretation of the geopolitical terms in this article. Furthermore, the article examines the southern pivot area and shatterbelt where the conflicts are the most prominent among the fringes of Eurasia, and it also evaluates the geopolitical characteristics of those areas. To conclude, the reason that the conflicts in the Eurasian Southland are deeper than others is that this area is equipped with all characteristics of Pivot Area, Shatterbelt and Choke Point simultaneously. In addition, the competition for the spread of their political influence is making the conflict more intense.
