한국과 일본의 품목별 수출물가에 대한 환율전가효과

Exchange Rate Pass-Through into Export Prices by Product in Korea and Japan

본 연구에서는 환율의 수출물가 전가효과에 대해 한국과 일본을 대상으로 분석하였다. 또한 품목별로도 환율이 수출물가에 미치는 장․단기 영향을 분석하여 비교하였다. 한국의 경우 대미환율의 수출물가에 대한 환율전가가 뚜렷하게 나타났는데 그 크기는 일본의 경우와 큰 차이는 없었다. 또한 한국의 수출물가는 엔/달러 환율의 변화에도 크게 영향을 받았음을 알 수 있었다. 품목별로 세분해서 살펴 본 경우 기술력이 약해 경쟁이 치열한 품목일수록 전가효과가 작아 대미환율이 상승하는 경우 수출기업의 채산성이 악화되었다. 한편 생산자물가가 상승하는 경우에 한국은 일본과 달리 이를 수출물가에 전가하지 못해, 내부 경제의 비용증가에 과감하게 대처하지 못하는 것을 알 수 있었다.

This research estimates exchange rate pass-through into export prices using data on Korea and Japan. Especially, this paper analyzes the long-term and short-term effects of exchange rates on export by product. The long-run elasticity of exchange rate on export prices respectively reached 0.53, 0.62 in Korea and Japan. It means that the export prices index will fall by 5.3% and 6.2%, respectively, in those countries if the nominal exchange rates against U.S. dollar rises by 10%. In case of Korea, Yen/dollar exchange rate also influences on export prices in Korea. While the product price index strongly influences on export price in Japan, it doesn't influence on export price in Korea.
