본 연구는 북한의 민간시장생성과 변천과정을 설명하고 있다. 북한에서는 고난의 행군 시기 이후 시장에서의 거래활동을 통해서 시장경제원리가 주민들에게 익숙해지기 시작했고, 북한 주민들은 장마당을 통하여사유재산권 의식이 고취되었으며 부의 축적을 추구하게 되었다. 본 연구의 목적은 북한의 시장화의 과정과 현황을 설명하고 또 시장화가 주민들의 의식 변화와 통일역량 증진에 미친 영향에 대한 이해를 돕는 데있다. 북한의 시장화 과정을 통해 자본주의 시장경제체제가 북한주민의식 가운데 깊숙이 파고들어가고 있다. 시장경제라는 관점에서 볼 때북한의 시장화는 남북한 주민들의 경제의식에 대한 격차를 줄이고 있다. 시장화는 북한주민들에게 사유재산권에 대한 인식과 자본주의 시장경제체제를 선호하게 만들었다. 시장을 통해 유입된 외부정보와 한류는북한주민들이 남한사회의 실상을 파악하고 통일에 대한 기대가 높아지게 만들었다. 이 같은 북한주민들의 가치관의 변화는 남북한 주민의식의 격차를 줄어들게 하고 있으며 북한주민들의 통일역량을 증진시켰다. 북한의 시장화는 계속 진전될 것으로 예측되며 이와 함께 북한 사람들의 의식 변화와 통일에 대한 기대는 더욱 증진될 것으로 사료된다. 향후 시장경제체제에 의한 남북통일을 준비하는 관점에서 볼 때, 북한의 시장화와 주민 의식변화는 통일비용과 남북한의 통일적응기간을 효과적으로 줄이는 데 긍정적으로 기여하리라고 예상한다.

This study is to explain the evolution process of North Korea's marketization and to understand the impact of marketization on the change of people's awareness and the improvement of unification capacity. Through the process of marketization in North Korea, the capitalist market economy system is deeply penetrating into North Korean awareness. The marketization made North Koreans aware of private property rights and prefer the market economy system. External information and the Korean wave(Hallyu) brought in through the market made North Koreans think well of South Korean Society and raised expectations for unification. Such changes in the awareness of North Koreans have narrowed the gap between North and South Koreans, and increased the unification capacity of North Koreans. From the perspective of the market economy system, it is expected that the marketization of North Korea and the change of the people's awareness will contribute positively to reduce the cost of unification and the period of unification adaptation between the two Koreas.
