동족단의 형성 기반에 대한 한ㆍ일 비교연구

본 논문은 한일 양국의 동족단의 형성기반을 특히 경제와 지리적 기반을 중심으로 비교분석한 것이다. 결론적으로 말하자면, 동족단 형성의 경제 및 지리적 기반은 상호 서로를 규율하고 있다고 할 수 있다. 경제적인 면에서, 일본의 동족단은 본가의 경제력에 전면적으로 의거하고 있다. 본가가 갖고 있는 사유재산이 동족단의 결합을 뒷받침하고 있다. 따라서 일본의 동족단의 형성에서는 본가가 상당한 정도의 개인재산을 소유하고, 압도적인 경제력 우위를 확보하고 있는 것이 전제가 되어 있다. 이에 대해 한국의 동족단은 본가, 곧 종가의 개인재산이 아니라, 동족집단, 특히 그 하부조직인 문중, 환언하면, 어떤 동족집단 가운데 시조로부터 훨씬 내려온 세대의 특정의 인물을 공통의 선조로 하는 자손들에 의해 구성되는 동족집단의 재산을 경제적 기반으로 하고 있다. 한편, 지리적인 면에서는, 일본의 동족단은 지리적 일체감을 전제로 하고 있다. 일본의 동족단은 본가의 압도적인 경제력을 배경으로 하여 본가와 분가가 밀접한 생활의 공동 혹은 연관관계를 갖고 형성되어 있기 때문이다. 생활의 공동 혹은 연관을 위해서는 필연적으로 동족단이 일정한 지역 내에 형성되어 있어야 하는 것을 필요로 한다. 이에 대해 한국의 동족단은 전국적인 확장을 보이고 있다. 이것은 곧 한국의 동족단이 동족 구성원 상호간의 밀접한 경제적 상호관계를 전제로 하고 있지 않기 때문이다.

The aim of this article is a comparison between a forming basis of Japanese and Korean community, focused on the economic, geographical base. It is quite clear that the basis I mentioned above defines each other. Looking from the point of view of economics, the Japanese community fully depends on economic power of a head family. Private property belongs to the head family supports a combination of the communities. At this point it gives us an assumption the family in Japan has a certain amount of money and holds a overwhelmingly dominant position in finance. The Korean family, on the other hand, uses a property of a community, not that of a head family, as their economic base. This community consists of descendants who have their certain ancestor from the same family, that is Moonjung(門中), a lower branch of the family. By taking a look at the geographical aspect, the Japanese community is built on a sense of geographic unity. This is due to the fact that it is made under the principal the head family and the branch family maintain a close relationship with a strong economic power of the head one. They need to be in a common area to retain their joint lives. Conversely, the Korean community is expanded all over the country. It is precisely because that economic relation between their members is not a significant factor in Korea.
