OECD국가의 제조업FDI로 인한 산업공동화 실증분석

An Empirical Test for the Hollowing out of Industry due to Manufacturing Outward FDI in OECD Countries

본 연구는 OECD 16개국을 대상으로 1984～2000 동안 제조업해외직접투자() 유출이 투자국 산업공동화의 원인이 되었는가에 답하기 위해 투자국의 가 투자국의 제조업고용()과 제조업수출()에 어떠한 영향을 미쳤는가를 패널회귀분석을 통해 국가그룹별․기간별로 실증분석을 실시하였다. 의 에 미친 효과는 1980년대 후반에는 전반적으로 미미하나마 정(+)의 효과가 나타났다. 그러나 1990년대 후반에는 전체국가그룹에서, 1990년대 전․후반에 결쳐서는 순해외직접투자유출이 정(+)인 A그룹에서 부(-)의 효과가 나타났다. 의 에 미치는 효과는 전체 대상국과 모든 년도에서 정(+)의 유의적인 효과를 나타내어 로 인한 에 미치는 공동화현상은 나타나지 않았다. 투자국에 미치는 산업공동화의 우려는 순해외직접투자유출이 정(+)인 A그룹에서 부(-)인 B그룹보다 크게 나타나는 것으로 추정된다. 역무역지향적인 특성으로 1990년대 이후 모든 그룹에서 의 계수값은 감소하였고, 의 감소로 인한 에 미치는 부(-)의 영향은 감소분보다 크게 나타났다.

The purpose of this study is to empirically examine the possibility of hollowing out of industry due to manufacturing FDI in sixteen OECD countries during 1984-2000. This paper provides further insights into the relationship between home countries' employment(MEMP) or exports(MEXP) and manufacturing outward FDI(MFDI). The period for this study was divided into five or six year in order to analyse periodical characteristics and mitigate the difficulity of interpreating for empirical tests. The effects of MFDI on MEMP is positive and statistically significant except for the period from 1990 to 2000. The effects of MFDI on MEXP is positive and statistically significant for groups A and B over all the periods. The possibility of hollowing out of industry in group B is lower than group A. It is very interesting that the coefficients of MFDI have gradually become smaller since the 1990s due to the characteristics of anti-trade FDI.
