Toyota has stood out for the last few decades because of its consistently high manufacturing performance. Much of the hype about Toyota is justified, but even this firm has made mistakes or encountered problems. Its history has not been that of smooth progress and perfect decision making. The capability-based view of the firm, in particular, lends itself to Toyota's production-distribution integrated system. The Toyota production consider how to adapt production schdules to the demand changes in the marketplace while satisfying the goals of low cost, high quality and timely delivery. Production-distribution integrated system has been significantly modified since the late 1970s, while maintaining much of its core manufacturing capabilities. In the 1990s, The new system known as ‘order entry system(OES)’ has evolved overtime. We may regard Toyota as having ‘evolutionary capabilities’, by which a firm can handle a complex process of new system evolution.
