20세기 미국사와 ‘코포라티즘(corporatism)’적 접근

The purpose of this essay is to review some corporatist approaches on the American history. According to the Corporatism, the capitalist societies in 20th century has been characterized by the close connection between politics and economy. Many Historians have interpreted American domestic history and diplomatic history on the basis of this theory since 1960's in the U.S. Their works have been helpful to many scholars, because they can explain the active role of the state, the interlocking between public and private elites in the U.S. and the connection between domestic policy and foreign policy. So, Corporatism had got an ecumenical base of support, providing an analytical connection between scholars with different interest and political point of view. However, even though these scholars who have used corporatist approaches have agreed that the search of cooperative order, not class conflict, has been characteristic of 20th century American History, they have not agreed whether the nature of the cooperative order is democratic or not.
