Studies on international relations are generally based upon Western and powerful countries. Particularly, realism, one of the most popular paradigms upon international relations, can not be applied as easily to the era of post-Cold War as to that of Cold War. This problem could be partly solved by utilizing Oriental views upon international relations. Confucian thoughts, the basis of Chinese world order, assume that human relations are not equal and problems of inequality could be solved by exemplary conduct of the upper class. According to Oriental view of international relations, the world is one unit. This view can be applied to family, society, nation, and international relations. Sovereignty of nation-states, which is one of the most important ideas of Western realists, does not matter in the Oriental view of international relations.
